Join the fun as the Park celebrates Earth Day 2017

Lots of children and adult activities are planned including facepainting and henna, live displays, ranger led programs, demonstrations by Master Gardeners, Junior Ranger programming(Ages 4-12), Bird Club led programming, and so much more. Caliente Grill will be offering food and beverages during the event.

FULL LIST OF EARTH DAY EXPO ACTIVITIES – DEMONSTRATIONS – INFORMATION

BIRD HIKE – ANNE ARUNDEL BIRD CLUB. 10:30am. Meet at the Blue Heron Center Parking lot for this one hour hike. Bring binoculars if you have them. Recommended for ages 10 and up.

KAYAKING – RANGER NATE. 10:30 am. Meet in the Blue Heron Parking lot near the Paddle or Peddle Kayak sign. This 90 minute program will take us on beautiful Harness Creek. For ages 9 and up. Children under 15 must be accompanied by a participating adult. Space is limited to 10. Preregistration is required by emailing Park Ranger Nate Cramer at rpcram00@aacounty.org or call 410-222-1777.

COMPOST DEMONSTRATION – ANNE ARUNDEL MASTER GARDENERS. 1pm. Meet at the Wildwood Trail Compost site near the Blue Heron Parking Lot.

BEEHIVE DEMONSTRATION – ANNE ARUNDEL MASTER GARDENERS. 2pm. Meet at Parking lot J near the Visitor Center.

GLENN BOCK OF NASA’s GOODARD SPACE CENTER will have a Hydrogen-Alpha Telescope on-hand for the only safe way of observing the sun. You won’t want to miss this.

MARYLAND DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES – WILD ACRES PROGRAM (Display and answering questions). This program encourages Maryland citizens to create backyard wildlife habitat that can increase food and shelter for wildlife, control soil erosion, reduce sediment in waterways, conserve water, improve water quality, inspire stewardship and beautify the landscape

WOOD TURNING DEMONSTRATION – CHESAPEAKE WOOD TURNERS.

GAMES FOR ALL AGES – ARLINGTON ECHO. Giant Jenga and Wheel of Echo. Plus Leaf Drawings

CHILDRENS STORYTIME WITH ACTIVITIES. 11:30 and 1pm. Meet inside the Blue Heron Center.

BROWSING GREEN GOATS. These goats for hire can help control invasive species without pesticides!
