POLLINATOR WEEK IN QUIET WATERS PARK

June 17 – 23, 2024
REGISTRATION  REQUIRED FOR SOME EVENTS 

Monday, June 17
Event:   “Macro Nature Photography Session with Jack Wildlife”,
                  with Jack Turner.
All skill levels welcome, including phone
                  photography

Time:  5 – 6 pm
Location:  Reading & Butterfly Garden
                         In case of rain, event will be on the Visitor Center Porch.

Tuesday, June 18
Event:  “Special Edition Toddler Hike” (Includes Monarch Madness game)
                 with Ranger Liz
Time:  11am
Location:  Reading & Butterfly Garden
                          Event takes place in light rain or sunshine.
No registration required

 

Wednesday, June 19
Event:  Children’s Reading about Butterflies and Pollinators with
                Carol Sayre (includes Monarch Madness game afterwards)
Time:  3 pm
Location:  Reading & Butterfly Garden
                         In case of rain, event will begin on the Visitor Center Porch.
No registration required

 

Thursday, June 20
Event:  “Don’t Bug the Bugs Walk”(Special Pollinator Week Edition)
                followed by Seed Bomb Construction with Horticulturist Matt Pruett
               (children and adults)
Time: 10 – 11am
Location: Meet at the Reading & Butterfly Garden then walk
                        Event takes place in light rain or sunshine

Friday, June 21
Event: BioBlitz in the Park with Terri McKenna and Ranger Pauline.

Time:  10 am – Noon

                     Event takes place in light rain or sunshine

Saturday, June 22
Event:  “The Forest Ecosystem” with Jim Collatz.
                 Take a walk in the forest encountering plants & animals, learn how
                  each plays
a role in this forest ecosystem.
Time: 10 am – Noon
Location: Meet on the Visitor Center Porch then walk
                       Event takes place in light rain or sunshine

Sunday, June 23
Event:  Master Storyteller Katherine Haas shares a book on bees and tells a
                special
bird tale (for children with adults). Followed by Monarch
                Madness
game. 

Time: 11 am
Location: Reading & Butterfly Garden
                      In case of rain, event will begin on the Visitor Center Porch

Event:  “Bee Informed: Importance of Native Bees and Honey Bees” with
                 Native Bee
naturalist and Kinder Park Ranger Jess Furr and
                 Quiet Waters Park honey
bee keeper Bob Latham.
