Fall Farm Frolic

Did you know that, before 1990, Quiet Waters Park used to be a farm? Come celebrate harvest season on Saturday, October 7 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and learn which plants, animals and people grew up at Quiet Waters Farm! Karen Mitchell and Chris Buser grew up in two different families that took care of Quiet Waters Farm almost 50 years ago. Join them and ask questions about the farm, kids’ chores, and what they did for fun.

Enjoy fresh apple bars and ice cream, a treat that farm caretakers might have enjoyed themselves. Also see old farm equipment and help figure out how it worked.

This program is especially recommended for families with children aged 4-12 but is open to all. It is a free event (park admission is $6 per car). Please park by the Blue Heron Center and meet at the Wildwood Trail, which heads to the composting demonstration area. In the event of rain, meet on the Visitor Center covered porch.

The Friends of Quiet Waters Park Environmental Committee and Park Staff are sponsoring this activity and we hope to see you there!
