Art @ the Park returns to the beautiful surroundings of Quiet Waters Park on October 17th and 18th from 10-4 each day. Bring your family and leashed pets to enjoy the Fall scenery and the lovely works of art that will be on display in our newly renovated garden. There will be demonstrations of pottery, painting, and woodworking along with special activities for kids. Listen to the live music while you enjoy lunch or a snack from one of the food trucks that will be on hand. Entry fee is $8 per vehicle.
Faces in the Woods Let your creativity run wild to create a face out of recycled items using a wood cookie as the base. The cookies can be procured at the playground in the park. Bring the finished product to the park on October 17th or 18th to place along the Holly Trail. The faces will be on display through Nov. 1st.
Use your imagination. Keep in mind that the masks will be displayed outdoors, so E6000 epoxy or hot glue are recommended to attach items. Plastics are hard to adhere so the E6000 is a good choice and can be purchased in small tubes from the dollar store.
Here are creative suggestions for the Recycled Mask Challenge:
Bottle Caps & Plastic Lids (great for eyes or layered ears)
Egg Cartons (cut into snouts, horns, or bumpy scales)
Pinecones, Acorns, & Sycamore Balls (perfect for natural texture or hair)
Jar Rings & Soda Can Tabs (fun for metallic accents or mechanical details)
Mesh Fruit Bags & Burlap Scraps (ideal for textured skin or hair)
CDs or Foil Wrappers (great for shiny, reflective eye backgrounds)
Cardboard Tubes & Cutouts (easy to trim into ears, trunks, or brows)
Yarn & String Offcuts (classic choice for hair, whiskers, or fur)
