Thank you to everyone who was able to participate in the 2024 Box Turtle Study! Some of you may know that this study is actually a restart, and that the previous study ended in 2010. The 2024 season was a success thanks to 38 volunteers and staff members. Data such as numbers and locations have been removed so that we can protect our box turtles from being poached and part of the pet trade.
Park visitors, please make sure to slow down and abide by the speed limits set in the park. All turtles that were found deceased were hit by a car on the road. There are turtle crossing signs throughout the park to make everyone aware. It is also against county code Article 14 to capture, confine, or interfere with a wild animal at Quiet Waters Park.
